The NASA Earth Science Applications Directorate (ESAD) provides a WEBSITE where you can freely download these Landsat satellite images:
These images were captured by LandSat5 between 1987 & 1992. They are at 28.5 metre per pixel resolution (approx 1:250,000 scale) They can be downloaded and viewed by OziExplorer, and can also be viewed by the system's browser by downloading a free plugin from Lizardtech called ExpressView. to download this viewer click HERE They are all in a format called MrSid, which OziExplorer requires a special DLL to handle, available from Ozi's home page.
Here is a closer view of Austria, with waypoints and my holiday track file loaded into the map within OziExplorer. In the screen shot view above, to the left of centre is the city of Salzburg, the northern point of which has a waypoint SALZND showing. The yellow tracks clearly show the routes I took during my stay in this area. This is a much reduced image, the actual view within OziExplorer is much more detailed, as can be seen from the smaller image centred on Salzburg below showing the tracks into the city.
